Subject: | Sunroof Wind Noise / Water Leaks |
Models: | 2008 Cadillac CTS w/ RPO C3U |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A customer may comment about excessive wind noise while driving, or a water leak from the sunroof. The cause may be misadjustment of the front or rear sunroof windows, or sunroof window seals.
Recommendation/Instructions:
- Inspect the "miter joint" appearance at the rear corners of the front sunroof window seal. The joint must be consistent and appear at a 45 degree straight angle off the corner of the glass. The rear window seal must also be equal to, or slightly
longer than the forward edge of the window panel/encapsulation. If it is short, a seal gap will be evident, and wind noise/ water leaks can occur. Reposition/ adjust the front or rear sunroof window seals as necessary. Review Sunroof Window Seal Replacement
in SI Repair Instructions. If the "miter joint" appearance is good continue to step 2.
• | The figure below demonstrates an undesirable condition where the left rear corner of the front sunroof panel seal is pulled/ tugged too far around the corner (1). |
• | The figure below demonstrates an undesirable condition where rear sunroof window seal is shorter than the front window seal (2). |
• | The figure below demonstrates an undesirable condition where rear sunroof window seal is shorter (3) than the glass encapsulation. |
- Ensure the sunroof windows are adjusted correctly. Follow Sunroof Window Height and Opening Fit Adjustment in SI Diagnostic Information and Procedures.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
