The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment the check engine light / malfunction indicator light (MIL) is on and or the driver information center (DIC) displays SERVICE POWER STEERING. Further investigation may reveal the EMIS1 15 amp fuse in the underhood fuse block is open. One or more of the DTC listed below may be stored. The cause may be the engine wire harness shorting on an unused heater hose bracket stud on the right engine compartment frame rail.

Inspect the engine wire harness for contact with the stud (1). Repair the wiring as necessary.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
