Subject:Radio, Navigation, or HVAC Concerns (Oversized Terminals)

Models:2008 Cadillac CTS built before 10/1/07

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The customer may notice any number of concerns with the HVAC, navigation, or radio sound system that seem electrical in nature. The cause may be the result of oversized .64 female terminals in some I/P wire harness connectors allowing for poor or intermittent contact. The following connectors may be involved:

HVAC Control Module X1 (Black) 18 -way

Radio Module X1 (Black) 44 -way

Radio Module X4 (Olive) 20 -way

Integrated Center Stack (Black) 16 -way

Display Navigation X2 (Gray) 8 -way

Display Navigation X1 (Black) 8 -way

I/P Cluster Module (Black) 20 -way

Recommendation/Instructions:

Test the female .64 terminals in these connectors as required using J-35616-64B test probe. Drop or release the test probe into each populated cavity of the connector. Insertion into cavity is not required and the technician can stop as soon as resistance is met. If the tool drops down into any of the populated cavities without resistance, that terminal is non- conforming and should be replaced.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
