Subject: | Engine Coolant Leak (Inspect Surge Tank Outlet Hose) |
Models: | 2008 Cadillac CTS |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A customer may notice evidence of an engine coolant leak or low coolant level in the radiator surge tank.
Inspect for coolant seeping out the end of the radiator surge tank outlet hose (1), near the bulkhead on the driver side. The likely cause is an internal puncture in the hose caused by contact with a chassis to body marriage tool during vehicle assembly. This will allow coolant to wick out through the hose reinforcement. Quick observation may cause one to conclude the spring clamp is not providing enough clamp load. Replace the radiator surge tank outlet hose if you find this condition.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
