Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement with Rear Wheel Drive

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
  2. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement.
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  5. Object Number: 1301495  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose latch plate bolt.

  7. Object Number: 1974320  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose bracket bolt (2).
  9. Disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose (4) from the power steering cooler hose.
  10. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose fitting (1) from the steering gear.
  11. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1974320  Size: SH

    Important: Begin all fasteners by hand before finalizing any torques.

  1. Position the power steering gear outlet hose (3) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering gear outlet hose fitting (1) to the steering gear.
  3. Connect the power steering gear outlet hose (4) to the power steering cooler hose.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the power steering gear outlet hose bracket bolt (2).
  6. Tighten
    9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the power steering gear inlet hose latch plate bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 22.5 N·m (17 lb ft).

  9. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  10. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  11. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement.
  12. Install the left front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
  13. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement with All Wheel Drive

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  3. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement.
  4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  6. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose latch plate bolt.

  7. Object Number: 1974352  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering gear inlet and outlet pipe retainer bolt (2).
  9. Disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose (4) from the power steering cooler hose.
  10. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose fitting (3) from the steering gear.
  11. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1974352  Size: SH

    Important: Begin all fasteners by hand before finalizing any torques.

  1. Position the power steering gear outlet hose (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering gear outlet hose fitting (3) to the steering gear.
  3. Connect the power steering gear outlet hose (4) to the power steering cooler hose.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the power steering gear inlet and outlet pipe retainer bolt (2).
  6. Tighten
    10 N·m (89 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering gear inlet hose latch plate bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 22.5 N·m (17 lb in).

  9. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  10. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement.
  11. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  12. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement.
  13. Install the left front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
  14. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
