Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
  2. Without disconnecting the front park brake cable, remove the park brake pedal assembly and position aside. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.
  3. Without disconnecting the steering column from the intermediate shaft, lower and support the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.

  4. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.

    5. Object Number: 1919805 Size: SH
  5. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod nut (1).

    6. Object Number: 1919807 Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) from the brake pedal pivot.

    7. Object Number: 1919812 Size: SH
  7. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).

    8. Object Number: 1919816 Size: SH
  8. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).

    9. Object Number: 1970021 Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).

    10. Object Number: 1970022 Size: SH
  10. Remove the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).

    11. Object Number: 1970023 Size: SH
  11. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

    12. Object Number: 1919839 Size: SH
  12. Remove the steering column support bracket (1).

    13. Object Number: 1919858 Size: SH
  13. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1919858 Size: SH
  1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 1919839 Size: SH
  2. Install the steering column support bracket (1).

    3. Object Number: 1970023 Size: SH
  3. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1970022 Size: SH
  4. Install the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1970021 Size: SH
  5. Install the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).

    8. Object Number: 1919807 Size: SH
  8. Connect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) to the brake pedal pivot.

    9. Object Number: 1919805 Size: SH
  9. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod nut (1).

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  10. Connect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.
  11. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  12. Install the park brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.
  13. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
  14. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.
