Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Left Side.
- Remove the catalytic converter nuts.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the muffler pipe from the left and the right side catalytic converters.
- Carefully remove the catalytic converter with the seal/heat shield and oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold.
- Remove the oxygen sensor from the catalytic converter. Refer to
Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1.
Installation Procedure
- Install the oxygen sensor to the catalytic converter. Refer to
Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1.
Important: Inspect the catalytic converter seal/heat shield sealing surface. Replace the seal/heat shield if the sealing surface is worn or damaged.
- Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.
- Partially install the catalytic converter nuts to the exhaust manifold.
- Connect the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Inspect the catalytic converter seals. Replace the seals if they are worn or damaged.
- Install the exhaust pipe to the left and the right side catalytic converters.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe nuts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tighten the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the catalytic converter nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Left Side.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
