Suction Hose Replacement 2.8L (LP1)

Tools Required

    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
    • J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 817526  Size: SH

    Important: The body of the tool should be parallel to the A/C line.

  3. Using J 45689 (1), disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator by pressing the probe end into the 2 small openings in the plastic quick joint.

  4. Object Number: 1207432  Size: SH
  5. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.

  6. Object Number: 1207434  Size: SH
  7. Separate the liquid line from the A/C suction line bracket.
  8. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 2.8L engine.

  9. Object Number: 1207428  Size: SH
  10. Remove the retaining bolt from the compressor.

  11. Object Number: 817539  Size: SH
  12. Using J 45689 , disconnect the suction hose quick joint (1).
  13. Separate the suction hose from the evaporator.
  14. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
  15. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  1. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the suction hose.

  3. Object Number: 817539  Size: SH
  4. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator.
  5. Important: Squeeze the clamp together until you hear it engage.

  6. Position the clamp (1) around the suction hose and engage.
  7. Gently tug on the suction line to ensure that the clamp is engaged.

  8. Object Number: 1207434  Size: SH
  9. Position the liquid line into the bracket.
  10. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1207432  Size: SH
  11. Install the screw into the bracket.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1 N·m (9 lb in).


    Object Number: 1207428  Size: SH
  13. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
  14. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N·m (87 lb in).

  16. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 2.8L engine.
  17. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .

Suction Hose Replacement 3.6L (LY7)

Tools Required

    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
    • J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 817526  Size: SH

    Important: The body of the tool should be parallel to the A/C line.

  3. Using J 45689  (1), disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator by pressing the probe end into the 2 small openings in the plastic quick joint.

  4. Object Number: 1207432  Size: SH
  5. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.

  6. Object Number: 1207434  Size: SH
  7. Separate the liquid line from the A/C suction line bracket.
  8. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 3.6L engine.

  9. Object Number: 1207428  Size: SH
  10. Remove the retaining bolt from the compressor.

  11. Object Number: 817539  Size: SH
  12. Separate the suction hose from the evaporator.
  13. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
  14. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  11. Install the screw into the bracket.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1 N·m (9 lb in).

  13. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
  14. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N·m (87 lb in).

  16. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 3.6L engine.
  17. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .

Suction Hose Replacement LS2

Tools Required

    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
    • J 45689 A/C Quick Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the cross vehicle brace. Refer to Cross Vehicle Brace Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 817526  Size: SH

    Important: The body of the tool should be parallel to the A/C line.

  4. Using J 45689 (1), disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator by pressing the probe end into the 2 small openings in the plastic quick joint.

  5. Object Number: 1207432  Size: SH
  6. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 1207428  Size: SH
  9. Remove the retaining bolt from the compressor.

  10. Object Number: 817539  Size: SH
  11. Using J 45689 , separate the suction hose from the evaporator (1).
  12. Remove the discharge hose bolt from the compressor.
  13. Remove the discharge hose from the compressor.
  14. Remove the suction hose clamp bolt.
  15. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
  16. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  1. Coat the new O-rings with refrigerant oil. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

  17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N·m (87 lb in).

  18. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
  19. Install the discharge hose to compressor bolt.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N·m (87 lb in).

  21. Install the cross vehicle brace. Refer to Cross Vehicle Brace Replacement .
  22. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  23. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  24. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
