Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1392497 Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 697215 Size: SH
  2. Remove the ignition coil assembly. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 260085 Size: SH
  3. Loosen the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  4. Remove the valve rocker cover.

    5. Object Number: 490696 Size: SH
  5. Remove and discard the rocker cover gasket (1).
  6. Clean and inspect the rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

Important: 

   ā€¢ All gasket surfaces should be free of oil and other foreign material during assembly.
   ā€¢ DO NOT reuse the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
   ā€¢ The valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets may be reused.


    Object Number: 490696 Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW rocker cover gasket (1) into the valve rocker cover lip.

    2. Object Number: 260085 Size: SH
  2. Install the valve rocker arm cover.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Tighten the valve rocker cover bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 12 NĀ·m (106 lb in).

  4. Install the ignition coil assembly. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .

  5. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
