SUBJECT: EXCESS PAINT IN FLYWHEEL MOUNTING HOLES ON GOODWRENCH ENGINE RECEIVED FROM GENERAL MOTORS SERVICE PARTS OPERATION (CLEAN MOUNTING HOLES)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1984-86 CENTURY WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODE R) 1984-85 SKYLARK WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODE R)

NOTE: THIS APPLIES TO GOODWRENCH PARTIAL ENGINES ONLY (P/N 10101781)

CONDITION:

---------- Incorrect clamp load on Flywheel bolts.

CAUSE:

CORRECTION:

------------ The Flywheel mounting hole threads should be cleaned out with a tap. The holes should be retapped with a M-10X1.5-6H standard tap.

Use Existing Labor Operation Number and Times.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
