To gain needed product feedback on the above transaxles, and to minimize vehicle downtime, a transaxle exchange program is now in effect and will continue until further notice.
The exchange program will be administered by Detroit Diesel Allison Division and all requests for exchange units will be handled through the Buick Technical Assistance Center.
The following information from DDA Muncie Division thoroughly explains all requirements regarding diagnosis, serviceable and non-serviceable items, serviceable part numbers, warranty claims processing procedures and shipping instructions.
In the event your Buick dealership receives a complaint on an MG1 unit, follow the procedure listed below. Your cooperation will greatly improve the effectiveness of the program.
A. Preliminary Diagnostic Procedure -------------------------------- o Refer to Diagnosis Chart. o Insure correct oil level. o Insure that the shift linkage is properly adjusted. o Insure that the clutch linkage is properly adjusted. o Insure that all engine and transmission mounts are tight.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
