COLD DRIVEABILITY HES/SAG INSTALL AIR/FUEL MIXTURE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 SKYHAWKS WITH THE LT-2 2.OL OHC L-4 ENGINE (VIN CODE K)

The 1987 Skyhawk with the 2.OL OHC engine and automatic or manual transmission may exhibit a cold hesitation or sag below approximately 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

If other system problems, i.e., ignition or fuel feed, are not causing the cold drive problem, then an Air Fuel (A/F) mixture drop tube should be installed. The inlet manifold mixture tube improves cold fuel (liquid) distribution to the inlet runners, thus improving cold-to-warm driveability.

The accompanying drawing shows the installation of the mixture drop tube kit, Part Number 10106050, which includes two gaskets and metal drop-tube.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
