    • J 39088 Engine Front Cover Water Pump Driveshaft Assembly Oil Seal Installer

  1. Use the J 35468 in order to install the crankshaft hub oil seal.
  2. Use the J 39937 in order to install the distributor driveshaft oil seal.
  3. Use the J 39088 in order to install the waterpump driveshaft oil seal.
  4. Install the engine front cover gasket.
  5. Install the J 39087 onto the end of the water pump drive shaft.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the engine front cover and bolts. Remove the J 39087 .
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Important: Do not reuse the O-ring seal on the crankshaft position sensor. Install a new O-ring seal onto the sensor.

  9. Lubricate the O-ring seal of the sensor with clean engine oil.
  10. Important: When you install the crankshaft position sensor, be sure that the sensor is fully seated and held stationary in the engine front cover bore. A sensor that is not fully seated will cock in the engine front cover and may result in erratic engine operation.

  11. Install the crankshaft position sensor into the engine front cover.
  12. Install the bolt into the cover.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
