Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Left

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 74031  Size: SH
  1. Remove the resonator bracket nuts.
  2. Remove the resonator. Complete the following steps:
  3. 2.1. Loosen the clamp.
    2.2. Slide the resonator off the studs.
  4. Remove the brake booster vacuum hose.

  5. Object Number: 39119  Size: SH
  6. Remove the rocker arm cover bolts.
  7. Remove the rocker arm cover and the gasket.
  8. Clean the following surfaces:
  9. • Rocker arm cover
    • Cylinder head

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 39119  Size: SH
  1. Install the rocker arm cover and the gasket.
  2. Install the rocker arm cover bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the brake booster vacuum hose.

  5. Object Number: 74031  Size: SH
  6. Install the resonator. Complete the following steps:
  7. 4.1. Slide the resonator over the studs.
    4.2. Tighten the clamps snugly.
  8. Install the resonator bracket nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

    in General Information.
  2. Raise the vehicle.
  3. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  4. Remove the Serpentine drive belt from the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  5. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator tube bracket from the transmission housing and the rear of the cylinder head.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Disconnect the crankcase vent hose.
  8. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Charging System.

  10. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  11. Remove the valve rocker arm cover and the gasket.
  12. Clean the valve rocker arm cover and the cylinder head gasket surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 39119  Size: SH
  1. Install the valve rocker arm cover and gasket.
  2. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   4. Connect the crankcase vent hose.

  5. Object Number: 39100  Size: SH
  6. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Charging System.
  7. Raise the vehicle.
  8. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  9. Install the transmission fluid level indicator tube to the transmission housing and the rear of the cylinder head.
  10. Install the serpentine drive belt to the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
