Removal Procedure
- Remove the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement
.
Important: Do not nick the crankshaft sealing surface when removing the seal.
- Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
- Use the notches provided in the crankshaft rear oil seal housing.
Pry out the seal with a screwdriver.
Installation Procedure
Tools Required:
J 35621-A Crankshaft Rear Seal Installer
- Coat the new seal entirely with engine
oil.
- Install the seal assembly onto the J 35621-A
.
- Install the J 35621-A
onto the
rear of the crankshaft.
- Tighten the screws snugly in order to ensure the seal will be
installed squarely over the crankshaft.
- Install the crankshaft rear oil seal to the crankshaft and the
crankshaft rear oil seal housing.
- Tighten the wing nut on the J 35621-A
until it bottoms.
- Remove the J 35621-A
from the
crankshaft rear oil seal housing.
- Install the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement
.
