Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement .
  2. Important: Do not nick the crankshaft sealing surface when removing the seal.


    Object Number: 4075  Size: SH
  3. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
  4. Use the notches provided in the crankshaft rear oil seal housing. Pry out the seal with a screwdriver.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required:

J 35621-A Crankshaft Rear Seal Installer


    Object Number: 4077  Size: SH
  1. Coat the new seal entirely with engine oil.
  2. Install the seal assembly onto the J 35621-A .
  3. Install the J 35621-A onto the rear of the crankshaft.
  4. Tighten the screws snugly in order to ensure the seal will be installed squarely over the crankshaft.
  5. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal to the crankshaft and the crankshaft rear oil seal housing.
  6. Tighten the wing nut on the J 35621-A until it bottoms.
  7. Remove the J 35621-A from the crankshaft rear oil seal housing.
  8. Install the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement .
