Removal Procedure
Important: When replacing the intermediate pipe, service mufflers will be required.
- Support the resonator and mufflers.
- Remove the exhaust hangers.
- Use the J 29800
in
order to cut the pipe(1) at the resonator and mufflers.
- Remove the intermediate pipe(2).
Installation Procedure
- Use the U bolt type clamp to loosely assemble the muffler and the intermediate
pipe.
• | Position the clamp on the left side muffler so that the nuts are
toward the left side of the vehicle. |
• | Position the clamp on the right side muffler so that the nuts
are toward the right side of the vehicle. |
- Use the U bolt type clamp to loosely assemble the intermediate
pipe to the resonator.
• | Position the clamp on the left side of the muffler so that the
nuts are toward the left side of the vehicle. |
• | Position the clamp on the right side muffler so that the nuts
are toward the right side of the vehicle. |
- Install the exhaust hangers.
- Align the system for proper clearances.
- Tighten the pipe clamps and then tighten the hanger fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
