Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Spark plug wires from the plugs.
  3. Note the position of the wires before removing.

    Twist the boot 1/2 turn while removing.

    Important: 

       • Do not remove spark plugs when engine is warm.
       • Clean dirt and debris from spark plug recess area.

  4. Remove the spark plugs from the engine.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the spark plugs.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plugs to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Important: On the L36 and L67 engines, aluminum heat shields are used over the spark plug boots on the cylinders which are close to the exhaust tubing. Care should be taken in order to ensure these heat shields are fully seated.

  3. Install the plug wires to the proper spark plugs. Use the position reference noted during the removal procedure.
