LOOSE CENTER CAPS TIGHTEN RETAINER SCREWS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 E

Some 1989 Buick Rivieras equipped with aluminum wheels may experience a condition of loose and/or noisy centre caps. This condition may be caused by one or more retainer screws being loose. To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Remove centre cap(s).

2. Apply Loctite 301, or equivalent, to all five retaining screws and tighten to 2.7 N-m (2 ft. lbs.).

3. Install centre caps and verify proper operation.

If the retainers cannot be properly tightened, the centre cap should be replaced.

Use most applicable Labour Operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
