Some 1989 Rivieras may exhibit a condition of poor fit of the door trim pad upper reveal moulding to the trim pad at front or rear of the pad. To correct this condition use the following procedure:
1. Lower window.
2. Apply electrical tape to the moulding to protect from scratches.
3. Using a block of wood approximately 12" long, position a smooth side against the moulding as shown in Figure 2.
4. Use a rubber mallet to tap the wood block and tighten the moulding at the door trim pad. Too much force could tighten the moulding too much or damage it.
5. Reposition the wood block as shown in Figure 3. Again, use the mallet to reshape the moulding.
Alternating the wood positions may be required to achieve the proper moulding position.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
