TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK AT TV CABLE DAMAGE SEAL 325 TRANS.

A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK AT THE T.V. CABLE ATTACHING AREA ON 1982 AT 325-4L TRANSMISSIONS MAY BE CAUSED BY A DAMAGED T.V. CABLE SEAL. IF THIS IS THE CASE, LUBRICATE A NEW T.V. CABLE SEAL WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND INSTALL INTO THE TRANSMISSION CASE HOLE. INSPECT THE PLASTIC END OF THE T.V. CABLE FOR CRACKS. IF CRACKS ARE PRESENT, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE T.V. CABLE. WHEN REINSTALLING THE T.V. CABLE ON THE TRANSMISSION, MAKE SURE THAT THE CABLE IS INSTALLED PROPERLY AND NOT COCKED TO ONE SIDE. TORQUE T.V. CABLE ATTACHING BOLT TO 10 N.M (8FT. LBS.).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
