Diagnostic Instructions
DTC Descriptors
DTC B2838: Driver Information Center (DIC) Reset Switch Circuit Low
DTC B3564: Driver Information Center (DIC) Mode Switch Circuit Low
Circuit Description
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) monitors the driver information center (DIC) mode switch and the DIC reset switch in order to perform certain functions. The IPC detects a switch activation when the signal circuit is low.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The IPC must have normal operating battery voltage.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B2838
The IPC detects that the reset switch signal circuit is low for greater than 60 seconds.
B3564
The IPC detects that the mode switch signal circuit is low for greater than 60 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The IPC ignores the DIC mode switch or the DIC reset switch.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• | A current DTC B3564 or B2838 will clear after a complete ignition cycle if the fault is no longer present. |
• | The IPC receives the clear code command from the scan tool. |
Diagnostic Aids
• | The IPC will store the code as current only as long as the failure exists. An intermittent failure will be stored as a history DTC B3564 or B2838. |
• | If DTC B3564 or B2838 is set only in history, press and release the DIC mode B3564 or reset B2838 switch several times in order to verify the customer concern. |

Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver information center (DIC) switch.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool DIC Reset Button parameter is Off.
⇒ | If not Off, test the DIC switch signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC. |
- Verify the scan tool DIC Mode Button parameter is Off.
⇒ | If not Off, test the DIC select menu switch signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC. |
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch.
