Battery Hold Down Retainer Chevrolet/Oldsmobile

1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Filter Element and Air Cleaner Assembly or Air Cleaner Element in Engine Controls.
2. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Cable Disconnect in General Information.
3. Remove the diagonal cross brace. Refer to Section 10-5.
4. Remove the windshield washer reservoir. Refer to Section 8E.
5. Remove the air cleaner bracket from the fender bolt.
6. Remove the battery hold-down retainer bolt.



7. Remove the battery hold-down retainer.

1. Install the battery hold-down retainer.



2. Install the battery hold-down retainer bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the battery hold down retainer bolt to 18  N·m (13  lb  ft).

3. Install the air cleaner bracket to fender bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the air cleaner bracket to fender bolt to 4   N·m (35  lb  in).

4. Install the windshield washer reservoir. Refer to Section 8E.
5. Install the diagonal cross brace. Refer to Section 10-5.
6. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.

Tighten
Tighten the battery ground (negative) cable to 15  N·m (11   lb   ft).

7. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Filter Element and Air Cleaner Assembly or Air Cleaner Element in Engine Controls.

Battery Hold Down Retainer Pontiac/Buick

1. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt.

Important: Clean old Locktite™ off bolt.

2. Remove the battery hold down retainer.

1. Install the battery hold down retainer.
2. Install the battery hold down retainer bolt.

Important: Add Locktite™ P/N 12345382 to bolt.

Tighten
Tighten battery hold down retainer bolt to 12   N·m (106   lb   in).
