Installation Procedure
NOTICE: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL®
or HAVOLINE® DEX-COOL® coolant. If Coolant other than DEX-COOL®
or HAVOLINE® DEX-COOL® is added to the system the engine coolant will
require change sooner; at 50 000 km (30,000 mi)
or 24 months.
- Install the radiator to the lower mounts.
- Connect the transaxle oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer
to Automatic Transaxle On-Vehicle Service.
- Install the low coolant module. Refer to
Coolant Level Sensor
.
- Connect the clamp to the upper hose at the radiator using the J 38185

- Install the radiator brackets and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft)
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the electric cooling fans. Refer to
Electric Cooling Fan
.
- Move the Engine strut(s) to the proper position. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Refill the coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
