Dual Exhaust System Rear

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 33009  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts from the three way catalytic converter to the intermediate pipe.
  4. Remove the oxygen sensor. Refer to Engine Controls.

  5. Object Number: 33036  Size: SH
  6. Remove the exhaust hanger bolts (Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick).

  7. Object Number: 33069  Size: SH
  8. Remove the exhaust hangers (Chevrolet).
  9. Remove the rear exhaust system.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 33069  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear exhaust system.
  2. Install the exhaust hangers (Chevrolet).

  3. Object Number: 33036  Size: SH
  4. Install the exhaust hanger bolts (Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick).

  5. Object Number: 33009  Size: SH
  6. Install the oxygen sensor. Refer to Engine Controls.
  7. Install the bolts to the connector to the intermediate pipe.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Lower the vehicle.
