PAINT TYPE IDENTIFICATION

THE OKLAHOMA CITY PLANT STARTED PRODUCTION OF 1982 CENTURYS ON MAY 6, 1982. THIS PLANT USES WATER-BORNE ENEMEL PAINT FINISH. TO OBTAIN SATISFACTORY REFINISHING RESULTS, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE TYPE OF PRODUCTION PAINT (ACRYLIC LACQUER, WATER-BORNE AND HIGH SOLID ENAMEL) BE DETERMINED TO ASSURE AN ACCEPTABLE COLOR MATCH. ON SOME COLORS, ACRYLIC LACQUERS AND HIGH SOLID ENAMELS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME COLOR STANDARDS. THE SIX (6) COLORS THAT HAVE DOUBLE STANDARDS ARE: CODES 16-21-45-55-68 AND 72. THE CORRECT COLOR AND PAINT TYPE CAN BE DETERMINED BY REFERRING TO THE BODY IDENTIFICATION PLATE. SEE FIGURES 1 AND 2 ON REVERSE SIDE OF THIS BULLETIN.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
