The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
SERVICE VME
Water Dripping Onto Right or Left Door Trim Panel, 6-10" Behind the Outside Rear View Mirror Patch.
The source of the leak is the Laser Weld that joins two separate pieces of window frame together approximately 6-8" above the mirror patch area. The leak in that area may only present itself during heavy rains with one door leaking and the other not exhibiting the condition at all.
Variability in the weld can be attributed to one door leaking and the other not leaking at all. Root cause and containment is ongoing at the assembly plant with emphasis being placed on containment. To eliminate a customer concern, dealerships have two options. Door adjustment inboard and up (both the front and rear doors to maintain door to door alignment) or filling the laser weld.
A service bulletin is in development with publication in the very near future.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
