The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Several dealerships have commented and experienced the door latch freezing condition. The Buick LaCrosse may experience an additional concern, a door handle that will stick in the outward position if exposure to any of the above conditions occur. Please consult Dealer Service Bulletin #05-08-64-002, dated January 20, 2005 if experiencing a frozen door latch.

.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If a door handle is the concern, the handle must first warmed to room temperature, pull the handle to the open position and gently lift on the black plastic cover that covers the handle mechanism, between the handle and door skin. Be extremely careful not to break the cover while lifting (it is one piece), and dry the area with compressed air. A cavity exists on the top side of the handle mechanism and all the moisture must be removed to repair the vehicle correctly. Using a small applicator, apply Synthetic Lubricant (#12371287 Canadian Part # 10953437) filling the cavity and adding a small amount under the plastic cover to prevent water intrusion. After placing the cover back into position, wipe the excess grease from all areas.

It is not necessary to remove the door handle to perform this operation but extreme care must be exercised, do not break this 1-piece cover behind the handle and warming it to room temperature or above is mandatory.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
