CONTINUOUS BRAKE WARNING LIGHT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL BUMPER

PARKING BRAKE PEDAL BUMPER SEPARATION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1986 ELECTRAS ---------------- Some 1985 and 1986 Electras may experience a condition in which the parking brake pedal bumper becomes separated from the parking brake pedal assembly. If this occurs, releasing the parking brake after separation of the pedal bumper may result in damage to the brake warning light switch causing the brake warning light to remain on continuously.

If this condition is encountered, install a new bumper, GMWDD P/N 25527682, as shown in Illustration. Inspect the brake warning light switch on the pedal assembly for damage and replace the switch if required using P/N 1264464.

For warranty purposes, use labor operation T6131 at 0.2 hour for bumper replacement or T6132 at 0.3 hour for bumper and switch replacement.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
