ON SOME EARLY PRODUCTION 1982 BUICK CENTURY AND SKYLARK VEHICLES, THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT LAMP MAY STAY ON WITH THE GLOVE BOX DOOR IN THE CLOSED POSITION, RESULTING IN A DRAIN ON THE BATTERY. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, A SMALL HARD RUBBER OR PLASTIC BUMPER (1/2" SQUARE BY 1/8" THICK) MAY BE GLUED IN THE POSITIONS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1 (CENTURY) AND FIGURE 2 (SKYLARK). THIS BUMPER WILL ENSURE COMPLETE CONTACT IS MADE WITH THE GLOVE BOX LIGHT ON/OFF PLUNGER. MANUFACTURING HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO ENSURE INSTALLATION OF THESE BUMPERS ON CURRENT PRODUCTION VEHICLES.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
